Sciatica is a term used to describe nerve pain in the leg that is caused by irritation and/or compression of the sciatic nerve. It usually originates in the lower back, radiates deep into the buttock, and travels down the calf & then up to big toe Sometime. In Few people sciatic nerve is being irritated under piriformis muscle, leading to pain initiating from hip & then traveling down. Sciatic nerve originates from Nerve roots L4,L5,S1,S2,S3 and goes down. Any degenerative changes in Lower spine or disc hearniation/disc bulge leading to narrowing of intervertebral neural formina ultimately causes sciatic nerve compression.
